Theres always that extra bit of pressure in the hope you don't mess something up!

........LIFE ON THE ROAD…….

Sitting in the snow again today here in Orono ME.  Woke this morning to a white blanket surrounding the bus…. and there was me bragging about spring arriving?! Spoke too soon I guess.  It's hard to believe that tonight is show number 41 on the “VERY BEST OF TOUR.”  We are flying through the gigs at this stage.  The past 3 weeks have...

been eventful to say the least.   As if we weren't busy enough on the road… The producer of CT Sharon decided that we were to film one of the shows out of the blue!  We decided to shoot the show in Casino Rama Ontario.  The venue there is huge and has tonnes of space for cameras and crew.  Its the only place where we could shoot a live show on the road so that the audience weren't effected by the bustle going on around them.  When filming a new show, sadly it's not just as easy as running the same show and filming it.  Theres a lot more prep that goes into it than that.  On rehearsals alone we spent hours getting everything perfect… if it's not done right on camera…. Well then…. Its not done right at all.  You only have the one shot to nail it… And nail it we did. Every one played a blinder.  I was in the production/media truck for some of the other lads solo songs and everyone looked and sounded great.  Its not easy doing a live shoot… Theres always that extra bit of pressure in the hope you don't mess something up!  Non the less… We got it done… You lot are in for something really special, real soon!!!

Friends, you guys & family have been asking me to do more painting’s.  So I have… I couldn't get much of anything done the 3 weeks previous as you can understand, but the second I did I got tore into it.  I LOVE painting… Its just another expression.  Painting is a lot like writing a song… some songs you can write easy and some you can’t… the same as a picture.  Some days you cant paint at all… Some days you can paint it all… It’s all a state of mind I find. I also want to get as many done/ practice in for the fund it campaign that I will be doing for my new album “On Mercy Street.”  Here is a time laps of me doodling ;)  The music is a piece that I composed played and produced a while back Called "The Uninvited Guests."  It's this idea I had for a burlesque/ seedy/ illegal drinking den/ prohibition era of music Enjoy.

Final mixes on the songs are being done right now 6 of the 12 tracks I am delighted with… The rest are almost there just a few more weeks here and there.  After that I’ll send them onto a guy we have in France for mastering…. We reckon he’s the best around, thats why he’s our guy.  Mastering in a nutshell is when a mastering engineer can unify your album with skillful use of EQ, gain, and compression to give it a consistent sound from track to track. This process also allows the mastering engineer to pump up the volume of your overall album so it's as hot as can be and make it sound unbelievable.  And unbelievable is what we are going for.

I cant wait for you guys to hear “On Mercy Street,” as I sit and write this I’m listening to new mixes and my head wont stop bobbing.. I love the work thats went into each not on every track and you will too..

Thanks Keith for sharing time with us and for the update on you new album, "On Mercy Street," so excited for you!! Enjoyed the music and your painting--creative you are! I mentioned on your Facebook page that I just purchased my second piece of your Fine Art America photos--"Mountain Road," as an upcoming birthday gift to me! I can continue to say that I have Keith Harkin "hanging around" my house, over the fireplace is where this piece will go!: D I enjoyed the CT VBO show in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania--incredible and looking forward to the CD/DVD purchase in the near future. Appreciate all you do, wishing you continued success with the tour and all your upcoming plans/adventures; safe travels! (Delaware, USA)

You are a gifted and talented good-looking young man and you use these talents to give joy to everyone you come across. Love your music and your art. Came to know Celtic Thunder through KCET and became hooked with the group especially you. I had the chance to see you and the others live here in Los Angeles last Feb. 27. You were great. I'm excited to get the DVD for The Very Best of Celtic Thunder and your CD On Mercy Street. Thank you for sharing your life with your fans. I hope to meet you in person in one of your solo performances. Stay safe and #keeponrolling. God bless.

Keith I enjoyed the video. You are very talented in art, in so many ways a great talent in many things. Waiting for your August cd release, you sound so happy that the tracks are just the way you planned them. "On Mercy Street", should be a big hit, you put so much energy and talent into it! Enjoy the rest of your tour, it's been a big hit! Love all the Ct family!

Can't hardly wait for the new album! Really liked seeing the video of you painting. So true that some days are easier than others for creating. And the music on the video of you painting is really cool. Would like to see you delve into that sound more.

Great to catch up, Keith! You have been faithful throughout the tour to post just about every day. I am sure the DVD of the Best of Celtic Thunder will be outstanding! As
I said when I met you in Eugene, Oregon, you guys sound even BETTER in person than on a CD. Although some of the instrumental music was prerecorded, it still sounded
great. The harmonies are fantastic. You nail your high notes every time! So much expression and love comes through in every song. So excited to hear your new CD and
HOPE you make your way back up to the Pacific NW on a solo tour. Almost time to head to the homeland and enjoy some of your mom's good cooking and your dad's musical
talent. There's no place like home! But, then, I'm sure being with Celtic Thunder is just like a second family. It sure appears that way to me! God Bless!!

Thanks for another great blog. You are definitely a busy lad. The tour, the cd, more painting and filming one of the shows in a moment's notice. You are the most incredible person. Hope that when the tour comes to Baltimore that I will see you at the VIP event. As crazy as it may sound, one of my New Year's resolutions is to meet you this year. Your solo shows don't usually get close to Baltimore so maybe at the show I can fulfill that resolution. Thanks for everything you do for so many people including the fans.

Interesting music, it really fits your description/explanation of it. I had no idea you painted these 'Blue Works' in that body position. That had to have been difficult. I 'see' your mom's face in one or perhaps yours, Mother Nature, or a blond lover, a mermaid . . . it is a fascinating painting. I look for ward to reading your explanation of it, if ever you post one. I wonder if you intend all the things I think I 'see' in your paintings. "My Love Goes On" boat on sea following heart in water still fascinates me. I would love to see it available through Art site.
